The core of our faith:
Through Jesus Christ, God has shown us God’s love, so we love God’s creation. Our love is more than words:
It is action.
Overland Park Presbyterian Church is a place where people are accepted just as we are, warts and all. This is where we find love and support in all the times of our lives. We show that love in a variety of ways–hot meals delivered to those just home from the hospital, a gentle hug on a Sunday morning. We share our laughter, tears, joys, and concerns. And we share that same love with the world around us with active involvement in varying ministries, including Caring for Kids partnerships with Tomahawk and Overland Park Elementary Schools, Shawnee Mission Meals on Wheels, Oasis Support Group, and the Linwood United Food Pantry.
We are pursuing wholeness in a fragmented world. As Psalm 139 attests, all people are created in the image of God and are beautifully and wonderfully made. However, we acknowledge that we are part of a global church that has often excluded people from fellowship based on their various identities. We confess our complicity in creating this harm. In order to seek reconciliation, we affirm all are welcome to the table. We invite all people regardless of age, race, ethnicity, immigration status, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, relationship status, or physical, mental, or other abilities, to share fully in the life, leadership, and ministries within our church as we live into the fullness and promises of God—together.
